Baseball Splits Day One of Myrtle Beach

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. After scoring 21 runs against John Jay College in game one, the New England College bats were held silent by Moravian College in the second game, as NEC splits their first two games down in Myrtle Beach, Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One New England College 21, John Jay College 3
New England College got the scoring started in the second inning, as a Tyler Gendron doubled to the left-center gap scored Mike Ciccotelli from first. The Pilgrims' bats came alive in the middle innings, as the team scored 17 runs over the third, fourth, and fifth innings.

The Bloodhounds refused to be shutout, as they finally broke through in the bottom of the fifth. John Jay would score two more runs over the next two innings.

It wasn't until the ninth that NEC answered the runs that they allowed. Mike Griffin capped off the New England College scoring, as he doubled to left field, plating a pair.

Jameson Carey picked up the win, after going 5.0 innings, allowing just two hits and striking out six.

Game Two Moravian College 15, New England College 0
Moravian College was able to jump out to an early lead, as they got two in the bottom of the first. In the following inning, the Greyhounds made it 3-0, as they capitalized on a leadoff triple. The Pilgrims pitching settled down in the middle innings, as they held the Moravian bats at bay.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Greyhounds put up a four-spot in the frame, before expanding their lead to 15-0, following an eight-run eighth.
