Baseball Opens 2020 With 7-5 Win Over Emerson

Box Score Danvers, Mass. The New England College baseball team opened up the 2020 season with a 7-5, eight-inning win over Emerson College, in non-conference action, Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Emerson College struck early as they held a 1-0 lead going into the second inning. The Pilgrims bats came alive in the second inning as they drove home six runs for a 6-1 lead. The Lions would add one more run in the second to bring things to 6-2.

Emerson added two more runs in the third inning to bring things to 6-4. The fourth inning was scoreless and the New England College added one more run in the fifth to take a 7-4 lead. The Lions added one more run in the sixth to close the gap to 7-5. Over the last two innings, neither team was able to get much going offensively as the Pilgrims took home a 7-5 victory.

Shaun Cormier picked up the win for New England College, as the junior went 5.0 innings and allowing no earned runs. Dylan Champagne started the game striking out three batters over two innings.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
