HOW IT HAPPENEDThis game was a pitcher's duel from the first innings. New England College picked up their first hit of the game in the top of the second, as
Jeam Castillo singled to left field. Eastern Connecticut would get their first base knock in the bottom of the third, as Eric Laillet reached on a single to center field. The Warriors threatened later in the inning as they had the bases loaded, but the Pilgrims got out of the jam with a groundout to third base.
ECSU once again nearly broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the seventh, but
Shayne Audet struck out John Mesagno with runners on second and third. New England College finally got on the board in the top of the seventh, as Luis Atiles scored on a bases-loaded walk.
In the bottom half of the inning, Audet escaped another jam, as he struck out Luke Broadhurst swing. In the bottom half of the inning, the Pilgrims broke open the game, as Jameson Carey worked a full count walk before advancing to third on a sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch. After

Connor Morin laced a double down the left field line, scoring a pair.
The Warriors would finally cross the plate, as Matt Malcolm hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth to get within one (3-2). Jameson Carey would strand two ESCU runners on base, as he got Ryan Hood to strike out then Dale Keller to fly out to right field.
Eastern Connecticut would walk off with the win, as he drove in a pair with a base hit to deep center field.
Audet got the start for New England College, as the sophomore went 7.0 shutout innings and striking out nine.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS-This was the first-ever meeting between the two schools. Eastern Connecticut now leads the series 1-0.
