Box Score FRANKLIN, Mass. The New England College women's basketball team defeated Dean College 72-56 in New England Collegiate Conference action, Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Pilgrims move to 6-3 on the year and 2-0 in NECC action, while the Bulldogs drop to 2-6 and 1-1 in league play.
HOW IT HAPPENEDThe Pilgrims came out strong as they jumped out to an early 5-0 lead two minutes into the game. About halfway through the quarter, the Bulldogs were able to tie things up at 5-5. The game stayed closed as New England College held a 9-8 lead with 1:49 remaining. NEC then took a 5-0 run to close out the quarter with a 14-8 lead.
In the second quarter, the Pilgrims extended their run to 10-0 as they held a 19-8 lead early in the quarter. New England College kept their momentum as they were able to push the lead out to 32-13 with just over three minutes left. Each team added five points down the stretch as NEC took a 37-18 lead into the half.

Brianna Pierreval each had eight points for the Pilgrims in the first half and Sadie Homer had eight for Dean.
The third quarter saw even scoring from both teams as the Pilgrims were able to maintain their lead at 44-23. New England College was able to build on their lead some as the score was pushed to 54-25 with just under two minutes left in the quarter. The Pilgrims closed out the quarter with a 26 point lead at 58-32. The third quarter saw similar play as the Pilgrims were able to take home the win by a score of 72-56.
