HOW IT HAPPENEDAfter splitting a pair of Eastern Nazarene defenders,
Wiskens Flavil threaded the pass to
Panagiotis Galatas, who tipped the ball just in the far post.
Jackson Easter was able to double the New England College advantage in the 37
th minute, as his free-kick from 35 yards out bounded off an ENC defender and in the back of the cage. Eastern Nazarene was able to outshoot the Pilgrims in the first half 12-4 but only had a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Coming out of the second half, the Pilgrims kept their foot on the gas as they pushed their advantage to 3-0. This time Flavil was able to save the ball from going out of play on the near side, but his cross into the box found the head of Galatas who buried the shot.
The Lions were able to get on the board in the 65
th minute, as Didac Gomes Castellvi drove in the bouncing ball from just outside the box, beating the NEC keeper to the far post. The Pilgrims responded just over a minute later, as Flavil picked up his third assist of the match. His low angle cross found
Tucker Stenger who drove in the fourth NEC goal of the game.
Eastern Nazarene got within two goals in the 70
th minute, as Carlos Moya fed Charlie Swann who scored on the breakaway.
GOALKEEPERSRobbie Ferguson racked up seven saves in net for the Pilgrims, while Tim Eddings recorded four stops for the Lions.
