Box Score BOWDOIN, ME. - The New England College women's basketball team drop a 93-42 decision to No. 1 Bowdoin College in non-conference action Tuesday evening at Morrell Gymnasium.
Following the game, the Pilgrims fall to 11-8, while the top ranked Polar Bears goes to 20-0
NEC LEADERS
Rene Hudson paced the Pilgrims with 17 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Daleia Boutwell also registered double-figures, as the forward picked up 10 points.
BOWDOIN LEADERS
Taylor Choate led the Polar Bears with 18 points and five assists. Abby Kelly, Sela Kay and Maddie Hasson joined Choate in the double-digit club with 15, 12, and 12 respectively. Cordelia Stewart led Bowdoin with six rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Bowdoin jumped out to the early 7-0 lead, before Rene Hudson drained a 3-pointer to get the Pilgrims on the board. The No. 1 team in the nation continued to put the pressure on NEC as the margin grew to nine points halfway thought the first quarter, before
Ericka Pratt made a layup to cut it back down to seven. The Polar Bears would continue to pull away and end the first quarter up 14 points.
In the second quarter, the NEC deficit would grow to as large as 22 points (36-14), but the Pilgrims used a 15-7 run to cut it down to 14 (43-29) with 1:30 remaining in the half. Bowdoin outscored New England College 5-0 to close out the half.
To begin the second half, the Polar Bears came out on the attack and pulled away in the frame, as they outscored the Pilgrims 28-4 in the quarter. In the final frame, the tried to cut away at the deficit, but Bowdoin was too much for NEC
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-This was the fifth meeting between the two schools on the hardwood, Bowdoin leads the all-time series 5-0
-The loss snapped an eight game winning streak for the Pilgrims.
