Baseball Advances to NAC Championship After 11-2 Victory over Lyndon

Box Score CASTLETON, Vt. The New England College baseball team have set themselves up for a rematch of last season's North Atlantic Conference Championship after eliminating Lyndon from the 2018 NAC Championship by an 11-2 score.

NEC 11, LYNDON 2
The Pilgrims jumped out to an early lead after Evan Delaney (Hadley, Mass.) hit his fourth homerun of the season. Luis Atiles (Dorchester, Mass.) would drive in another run in the bottom of the first to give the Pilgrims the 4-0 lead. Lyndon would respond in the top of the second inning with an RBI double to close the gap but that would be all they could muster in the second inning. Delaney would find himself at the plate in the bottom of the second inning and he would drive another ball over the fence, his second of the game and his second three-run homerun of the contest to give the Pilgrims a 7-1 lead. Xavier Nunez (Lawrence, Mass.) would give the Pilgrims an 8-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning on a sacrifice fly. The Pilgrims would add another run in the bottom of the seventh before tacking on two more in the bottom of the eighth. Lyndon would add another run in the top of the ninth but that was all they could do.

NAC Rookie of the Year, Shayne Audet (Springfield, Mass.) would throw a complete game to earn his sixth win of the season. He would strike out nine batters while only giving up six hits in the contest.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Pilgrims will advance to the championship game to face Castleton University. Since the Pilgrims are coming from the loser's bracket, they need to win two games, back-to-back to earn the title of 2018 NAC Champions. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
