Box Score 2 HENNIKER, N.H. The New England College Baseball team took both games of their North Atlantic Conference (NAC) doubleheader with Colby Sawyer by scores of 8-5 and 9-0.
The Pilgrims are now 19-7 on the season with an 8-4 record in the NAC while Colby-Sawyer goes to 2-13 overall with a 0-4 record in the NAC.
GAME ONE: NEC 8, COLBY-SAWYER 5
The Pilgrims jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Evan Delaney (Hadley, Mass.) earned a lead-off walk, then proceed to steal second.
Christian Aybar (Pawtucket, R.I.) was able to drive Delaney in with a single to center field. The Pilgrims would then capitalize on mistakes by the Chargers to make it a 2-0 game before Luis Atiles (Dorchester, Mass.) hit a sacrifice fly to end the lead to three.
The bottom of the second inning would start similarly to the first as Delaney would reach by a double and would advance to third on a wild pitch. Aybar would drive him home with a single. The Pilgrims would capitalize again on Charger mistakes by adding two runs on a throwing error. Atiles would drive in Xavier Nunez (Lawrence, Mass.) to make it a 7-0 lead by the end of the second inning. Colby-Sawyer would close the gap by stringing together a few hits and capitalizing on errors by the Pilgrims. The Chargers would put five runs on the board in the top of the third, four of them came with two outs in the inning. The Pilgrims would tack on another run in their half of the inning on a
Justin Carey (Amherst, Mass.) double. Neither team would add any runs for the remaining four innings.
Nick Powers (Malden, Mass.) would throw a complete game, his third of the season. He is now 6-0 on the season.
GAME TWO: NEC 9, COLBY-SAWYER 0
The second game in the doubleheader was all Pilgrims as pitchers,
Shayne Audet (Springfield, Mass.),
Christopher States (Rochester, N.H.), and
Brendan Halloran (Grafton, Mass.) combined for a one-hit shutout. Audet would throw five innings, earning the win while both States and Halloran would throw one inning each.
Jeam Castillo (Lynn, Mass.) would get the Pilgrims on the board with an RBI single, bringing in Nunez. Jameson Carey (Amherst, Mass.) would drive in Castillo to make it 2-0 at the end of the first inning. The Pilgrims would add four more runs, two of which came on a two-run homerun by Nunez, his third of the season. The Pilgrims would add extra insurance as they scored three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The Pilgrims will host in-state opponent, Keene State, on Sunday for a non-conference doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
