Field Hockey Earns Third Consecutive Win with 2-0 Victory Over Becker

Box Score LEICESTER, Mass.-The New England College Pilgrims field hockey team picked up a 2-0 shutout victory over the Hawks of Becker College on Saturday afternoon.

The Pilgrims will improve to 4-7 on the season with a 3-0 record in the NECC. The Hawks will fall to 3-7 with a 1-1 record in the NECC.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Brittany Tierney (Ottawa, Ontario) scored just a one minute and 22 seconds into the contest. Audrey Carr (Weare, N.H.) slapped a ball in from outside of the arc. Tierney would knock the ball down and fire a shot from about 10 yards out that would find the back of the net.

The teams would battle back-and-forth for the rest of the contest until Taylor Daileanes (Londonderry, N.H.) would ice the game for the Pilgrims with a goal in the 69th minute. The Pilgrims were outshot in the contest by a 13-8 margin but both teams had six shots on goal each.

GOALKEEPERS
Christine McNeil (Pawcatuck, Conn.) made six saves in the shutout victory. She is now 4-6 on the season. Victoria Pilpel made four saves on six shots on goal for the Hawks.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Pilgrims will host Regis College on Wednesday evening, looking to extend their three-game win streak.
