Men's Soccer Downs Becker, 5-1

Box Score HENNIKER, N.H. - The New England College men's soccer team wrapped up their 2018 regular season with a 5-1 victory over Becker College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play.

The Pilgrims wrapped up their 2018 regular season with a 6-7-4 record and a 3-2-3 record in the NECC. Becker sees their season come to a close at 2-13-2 with a 1-6-1 record in the NECC.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pilgrims recorded three goals in the first half. The first came in the 12th minute from Kyle Clements (Weare, N.H.). It was good for his second of the season. The ball was worked up the right side of the field and Clements found open space for a shot. Cooper Valinski (Portsmouth, N.H.) recorded his seventh goal of the season when he beat a defender and found the back of the goal. Carter Adams (Lebanon, N.H.) recorded his second goal of the season when he got open space after a corner kick play.

Vasili Vakalfotis (Burlington, Mass.) made a quick move after Valinski crossed the field. Vakalfotis' tally is his fourth of the season. It gave the Pilgrims a 4-0 lead just over two minutes into the second half. Becker would end the Pilgrim run when Matthew Hillsberg recorded his second of the season when he took a free kick which landed in the top left of the goal. Valinski recorded his second of the goal of the contest in the 63rd minute.

GOALKEEPERS
Robbie Ferguson (Hopkinton, N.H.) and Samuel Thompson (Chelmsford, Mass.) combined one save on two shots on goal. Ferguson earned the win in the contest. Devin Ramos and Tyler Marzocchi made 13 saves on 18 shots on goal.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Pilgrims will wait for the official NECC playoff bracket to come out but they have qualified for the NECC playoff tournament.
