HENNIKER, N.H.-Senior Brittany Tierney (Ottawa, Ontario) set an NEC record for goals in a game with six as the New England College field hockey team exploded for a 15-0 win over Dean College on Tuesday evening in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action.
The win boosts NEC to 3-7 overall and 2-0 in NECC play, while Dean falls to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in conference action.
Tierney's six goals were the most by any Pilgrim in over a decade. The previous record of five goals was reached five different times, most recently by Sarah Feugill against Regis College on September 29, 2007.
Additionally, the Pilgrims set a new program record for goals scored in a game the previous record was 14 and was set in a 14-0 win over Anna Maria College on October 4, 2000.
The Pilgrims also received three goals from
Sofia Castriotta (Framingham, Mass.) and two goals and two assists from
Taylor Daileanes (Londonderry, N.H.).

Christine McNeil (Pawcatuck, Conn.) earned the start and played 25 minutes before giving way to freshman
Gabryelle Hart (Gardner, Mass.). Neither NEC keeper faced a shot.
