Field Hockey Shutout by Visiting Anna Maria College

Box Score HENNIKER, N.H.- Anna Maria College field hockey would use two opening half scores to lift them past the New England College Pilgrims 2-0 Saturday afternoon.

With the win the Amcats even their overall record at 3-3, while the loss drops the Pilgrims to 0-5 on the season.

Anna Marie would waste no time getting on the board as Kayla Lapierre would net her third goal of the season thanks to a feed from behind by teammate Jacqueline Lapierre just eight minutes into the game. The Amcats would soon extend their lead to 2-0 as Lauren Beauregard would pick up a loose ball in the circle and fire in an unassisted shot from 15 yards up at the 14:20 mark.

Neither team would muster second half score as the Amcats best scoring opportunity came in the 54th minute as Kaitlyn Moran would get off a look at an empty net but NEC defender Amy Belanger would come up with the defensive save. The Pilgrim offense finished the game with four shots on net, while the Amcats posted 12 shots on goal.

Picking up the shutout win in goal for Anna Maria was Mary Kate Breen who finished the afternoon with four saves. In goal for NEC was Michaela Clark who notched 10 saves on the afternoon.

NEC returns to action on Monday, September 14 when they host non-conference opponent Bay Path College. Anna Maria will hit the field again on Tuesday, September 15 when they host non-conference foe Elms College.
