Field Hockey Drops Game to Visiting Bridgewater State University

Box Score HENNIKER, N.H.- Bridgewater State University field hockey forward Jennifer Arnold (West Yarmouth, Mass.) netted two goals and dished out an assist lifting the Bears past the New England College Pilgrims 5-1 Wednesday afternoon.

With the win the Bears improve to 3-4 on the season, while the loss drops the Pilgrims to 0-10 overall.

New England College would strike early as Kayla Donahue (Natick, Mass.) would record her first collegiate goal one-timing in a pass off the stick of Cody Kent (Rye, N.H.) just 2:38 into the opening half.

Bridgewater would respond just minutes later as Brittany Cullinane (Lunenburg, Mass.) would put in a corner from Jennifer Arnold knotting the game at 1-1 at the 5:24 mark.

The Bears would tack on two additional opening half goals, including an unassisted goal by Brittney Field (Hubbardston, Mass.) at the 10:45 mark and a score by Arnold in the 26th minute, giving Bridgewater the 3-1 halftime lead.

The two teams would battle scoreless through much of the second half before Arnold would take advantage of a Bear penalty stroke netting her third goal of the season in the 51st minute of play. Bridgewater would tack on the final score of the game with just under five minute remaining in regulation as Kelsey Kiely (Mansfield, Mass) would ricochet in a shot from Mary Roche (Arlington, Mass.).

The Bears finished the game out shooting the Pilgrims 19-3 and held the 7-2 advantage in corners.

Picking up the win in goal for Bridgewater was Kaylyn Allahyarian (Norwell, Mass.) who stopped two Pilgrim shots. Splitting time in net for NEC was Karlie Bove (Jefferson, Mass.) and Michaela Clark (Dorchester, Mass.) who each recorded three saves in 35 minutes of work.

NEC returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 27 when they open up North Atlantic Conference play hosting in-state rival Colby-Sawyer College. Bridgewater will hit the field again on Saturday, Sept. 27 when they host conference foe Fitchburg State University at noon.
