Box Score HENNIKER, N.H.— New England College field hockey would blank visiting Colby-Sawyer College as the Pilgrims would come away with the 5-0 victory Wednesday afternoon.
With the win the Pilgrims improve to 8-9 overall and 6-2 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC). The loss drops the Chargers to 5-7 on the season and 1-5 in NAC play.
The Pilgrims would waste no time getting on the board as senior
Katherine Rich (Westborough, Mass.) would net her fifth goal of the season off a corner from
Rachel Carnaroli (Bellingham, Mass.) just 1:38 into the game.
NEC would tack on an additional score with less than four minutes remaining in the half as
Patricia Wright (Essex, Mass.) would strike a one-timer off another Carnaroli corner giving the Pilgrims the 2-0 halftime lead.
NEC would extend their lead to 3-0 just two minutes into the second half of play as
Rachael Hunt (Harwich, Mass.) would lift a pass from
Jennifer Adams (Brimfield, Mass.). NEC's
Rachel Carnaroli and
Kate Roberge (Essex Junction, Vt.) would each add a tally to the board in the second half building the Pilgrim lead to 5-0.
Colby-Sawyer's best scoring opportunity of the afternoon came with 15 minutes remaining as Rebecca Perley (Sandown, N.H.) would fire a shot just wide of the net.
NEC finished the game out shooting Colby-Sawyer 22-9.
Picking up the win in goal for NEC was
Courtney Duquette (Enfield, N.H.) who finished with six saves. Seeing the bulk of the time in net for Colby-Sawyer College was Jodi Dumayne (Claremont, N.H.) who recorded an impressive 13 saves on the afternoon.
New England College returns to action on Sunday, Oct 21 when they travel to take on NAC opponent University of Maine Farmington. Colby-Sawyer will travel to Bangor, Maine on Saturday, Oct. 20 where they square off against NAC foe Husson University.
