Men's Soccer Falls to Eastern Nazarene in Double Overtime

HENNIKER, N.H.—Eastern Nazarene College's Bryan Wright (Bridgewater, Mass.) netted a goal 5:33 into the second overtime leading the Lions past the New England College Pilgrims 1-0 in men's soccer action Tuesday afternoon.

With the win the Lions improve to 2-10-0 overall and grab their first conference win of the season improving to 1-8-0 in the TCCC. With the loss the Pilgrims even their overall record at 7-7-0 and drop to 4-5-0 in TCCC play.

Eastern Nazarene would have two early opportunities in the opening minutes of the game but Steven Johnstone (West Haven, Conn.) and Wright would each fire shots just wide of an empty net.

The Pilgrims best chance to score would come late in the second half of play as PJ McLean (East Hartford, Conn.) would strike a shot that would ricochet off the post in the 85th minute. NEC's Zak Harris (Benninston, Vt.) would also have a shot at winning the game but Lion's keeper Andrew Trice (Quincy, Mass.) would pull a shot out of mid air robbing the Pilgrims.

Both teams would record a wide shot in the first overtime but neither team could muster a goal. The Lions would come through in the second overtime as Jon Corbin (Fallston, Md.) would thread a pass through the middle to Wright would who would record the game-winner with 4:27 remaining on the clock.

The Pilgrims finished the afternoon out shooting the Lions 15-11.

New England College returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 16 when they travel to take on conference opponent Salve Regina University. Eastern Nazarene College will take the field on Saturday as well hosting conference foe Anna Maria College.
