Samantha Escobar (Rumney, N.H.) would score the lone goal of the game at the 8:09 mark lifting the Pilgrims past the visiting Bates College Bobcats 1-0 Wednesday afternoon. With the win the Pilgrims improve to 10-5 overall, while the loss drops the Bobcats to 1-9 on the season.

NEC would have several scoring opportunities throughout the opening half as the Pilgrims would head into halftime out shooting the Bobcats 5-2 and hold the 7-2 advantage in corner opportunities.
NEC's Evans would have a chance to extend the Pilgrim lead early in the second half but would be unable to connect on a penalty stroke. Bates best scoring chance came as the clock expired with two shots on net off a penalty corner but Pilgrim keeper
Mary Roux (Auburn, Mass.) would make the saves keeping the Bobcats off the board.
The Pilgrims would finish the game out shooting the Bobcats 13-8 and hold the 11-8 advantage in corners
Picking up the shutout win in goal for NEC was
Mary Roux who finished with seven saves. Splitting time in net for Bates was Katie McEnroe (Hockessin, Del.) who finished with three saves and Helena Turner (Manchester, Mass.) who finished with an impressive seven saves.
New England College will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 24 when they travel to take on conference opponent University of New England at 1:00 p.m. Bates will host conference opponent Middlebury College Saturday, Oct 24 at 11:00 a.m.
