NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - The AMCATS of Anna Maria College limited the Pilgrims to just two runs on four hits as the NEC baseball team fell in their first game since returning home from South Carolina.
Playing on the turf field at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, Massachusetts, Anna Maria broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning with five runs in the frame, including a two-run home run by Jonathan Guardascione. They added two insurance runs in each of the seventh and eighth innings before securing the 10-2 victory.
On the mound, sophomore Benoit Beaudoin (Meredith, N.H.) allowed just one run on two hits across an efficient four innings, but he was outdueled by AMC's John Daley who permitted just one unearned run in seven innings with 11 strikeouts. Freshman Kaiden Chase (Gray, Maine) was handed the loss for the 'Grims.
Junior Mike Monteforte (Wilmington, Mass.) went 1-for-4 with a single and an RBI groundout. Senior Harold Martinez (Wethersfield, Conn.) and freshman Dillan Abbate (Port Jervis, N.Y.) each had a hit and a run scored in the loss.
Continues non-conference play on Saturday with a doubleheader on the road against Clark University starting at 11:00 AM in Worcester, Massachusetts.
