NEW LONDON, N.H. - New England College Men's Lacrosse picked up a huge conference win over Colby-Sawyer. The 20-0 victory was the Pilgrims' first shutout win since April 21, 2018. The Pilgrims improve to 1-3 on the season, holding a 1-1 record in conference play.
New England College struck first just two minutes into the game as junior Matt O'Rourke (Concord, N.H.) scored the first of his two first quarter goals. Ten minutes later, graduate Evan Zonderman (Dracut, Mass.) would score the first of his three goals in the opening frame as the Pilgrims took a 7-0 lead into the second quarter and held on to complete the dominant win.
O'Rourke and Zonderman led the Pilgrims with five goals apiece while freshman Owen Taylor (Lanesborough, Mass.) scored a hat trick. Junior Brody McGonigle (Concord, N.H.) and junior Andrew Pepka (Pembroke, N.H.) scored twice.
Junior Nate Finn (Norwood, Mass.) saved both shots that the Chargers were able to get off. Midway through the third quarter, Finn took the ball coast-to-coast to score the first goalie goal in over a decade.
The Pilgrims are back on the field on Saturday when they travel to Newton, Mass. to take on Lasell University at 1:00 PM.
