HENNIKER, N.H. - Sophomore goalkeeper Anthony Beaulieu (Lawrence, Mass.) of the NEC men's ice hockey team has been named the Little East Conference (LEC) Goalkeeper of the Week for the week ending on January 11th.
Beaulieu earns his first LEC weekly award of the season as he and the Pilgrims went 1-1 this week, including a huge win over #7 ranked Babson College on Saturday afternoon. The sophomore made a season-high 40 saves in the 2-1 victory, also posting a season's best save percentage of .976.
The nationally-ranked Beavers entered the game averaging just under four goals per game, but the sophomore permitted just one – a power-play goal late in the second period – while holding on for the upset. He made four key saves in the final three minutes of the game as Babson went man-up with an empty net. The loss was the Beavers' first in conference play this season, while the win became NEC's highest against a ranked opponent since January of 2022.
On the week, Beaulieu totaled 68 stops with a .932 save percentage. With the win, the Pilgrims improve to 3-5-0 in the conference and sits in a tie for sixth place with UMass-Dartmouth. They will look to continue to build momentum with a non-conference game against Fitchburg State on Thursday before hosting LEC opponent Plymouth State on Saturday at 6:00 PM.
