HENNIKER, N.H. - The New England College men's golf team captured their first win of the season at the Lou Garvis Invitational, held at Jay Peak Resort Golf Course and hosted by Vermont State University Johnson.  

Sophomore Vesse-Wincent Lampen (Espoo, Finland) led the way for the Pilgrims, finishing third overall. After shooting a 42 (+6) on the front nine, Lampen rebounded with three birdies in his final four holes and four pars on the back nine to card a 35 (-1), closing the round at +5.  

Sophomore Dalton Gordon (Boscawen, N.H.) secured fifth place with a round of 80. Gordon posted a 42 (+6) on the front nine, and 38 (+2) on the back, recording one birdie on each side. His score edged out senior Graham Hassan (Pinckney, Mich.), who finished close behind after 40-42 to go.  

Freshman Emil Elias (Ekerö, Sweden) rounded out NEC's team scoring with a 40-46 (86), placing 10th overall. Competing as an individual was sophomore, Bryce Sturm (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) carded a 46-42 (86) to take 11th.  

The Pilgrims' team total of 325 (+37) was enough to edge out SUNY Canton by three strokes for the team title. On the individual side, Marc Bota from Lesley University claimed medalist honors with a 74 (+2).  

The men return to action on Wednesday September 10th at the Tony Mariano Invitational hosted by Norwich University at Country Club of Barre. Team times will begin at 10:00 AM.
