HENNIKER, N.H. - New England College freshman Emil Elias (Ekerö, Sweden) of the men's golf team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week for the week ending on September 28th. 

Emil turned in a career-best performance, to this point, posting a 75 (+4) at the Keene State Invitational on Thursday. The rookie finished tied for fourth place, his best finish to date, while powering the Pilgrims to a first-place team finish with a 1-stroke victory over Keene State. The freshman has kept getting better as the season has gone on, now having shot sub-80 in his last two meets. 

On Saturday, Elias once again played well; Playing as the four, Emil defeated his Norwich counterpart by a four-hole advantage, wrapping things up by hole 15. Emil contributed a point to an NEC win, 6.0 to 1.0, over the Cadets. 

Elias and the Pilgrims will look to keep their strong play going next Sunday, October 5th, as they compete in the University of Southern Maine Invitational at Portland Country Club. The meet is set to begin around 11:30 AM.
