HENNIKER, N.H. - New England College senior Graham Hassan (Pinckney, Mich.) of the men's golf team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Golfer of the Week for the week ending on September 28th.
Hassan helped lead the Pilgrims to a first-place finish at the Keene State Invitational this past Thursday, finishing tied for second place overall with a 74 (+3). It was Graham's third top three finish in an invitational so far this season and the win marked the team's second first-place finish on the season.
Graham continued his strong play into match play on Sunday when the team returned to North Sutton for a 1-on-1 match with the Cadets of Norwich. Matched up against Cooper Bertrand, who had been named GNAC Golfer of the Week three weeks in a row, Hassan outdueled Bertrand across all 18 holes with a 1-up advantage. The team went on to defeat Norwich, 6.0 to 1.0.
Hassan and the 'Grims have been playing some of their best golf of the season of late with two meets left in the regular season. They set off for the University of Southern Maine Invitational next Sunday, October 5th, with an 11:30 AM tee time.
