HENNIKER, N.H. - Senior Emma Lopez (Downey, Calif.) of the New England College softball team added to a decorated career and a strong final season in Henniker by being named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Region I Second Team. 

Lopez, one of four GNAC representatives to appear on the All-Region team, was named to the GNAC All-Conference First Team just this past week. She had the best season of her career, posting a .425 batting average with a .699 slugging percentage. Her 21 doubles were seven more than any other player in the conference and ranked sixth in NCAA Division III. She tacked on 30 runs batted in, 30 runs scored, and had as many combined triples and home runs (four) as she did strikeouts (four). 

While the senior catcher had an excellent season in the batter's box, she had just as much success behind the plate. She threw out 11 base runners which tied the program's single season record and was second in the GNAC. Gunning down 25 base stealers across her four-year career, she graduates as the new NEC record holder.
