HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College men's lacrosse team suffered a loss against visiting Emmanuel College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Wednesday at Don Melander Field in Henniker, New Hampshire.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pilgrims started hot with goals from senior attacker Henri Pfeifle (Darien, Conn.) and senior attacker Thomas Norton (Mansfield, Mass.) with junior midfielder Daniel Varga (Hampton, N.J.) assisting on both as NEC took a 2-0 in the first five minutes. The Saints came back quickly as they closed the first quarter on a 5-0 run led by two goals from sophomore Cooper Mehlhorn (South Portland, Maine). Varga and Pfeifle scored within the first two minutes of the second quarter before senior Ryan Etzo (Bedford, N.H.) and freshman Braxton Bragg (Warwick, R.I.) combined for three goals as Emmanuel took an 8-4 lead into the half.
- The second half started with Norton scoring his second goal of the game as Bragg and Mehlhorn netted one each to give Emmanuel the 10-5 lead. Senior attacker Matt Daley (Plymouth, Mass.) and sophomore defender Jared Orr (Hooksett, N.H.) combined for three goals as the Pilgrims brought the deficit to two before junior Samuel Yan (Cranston, R.I.) and Mehlhorn went back-to-back to put the game away before Daley scored one more to bring the Saints lead to three.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Emmanuel freshman goalie Colby Enos (Cumberland, R.I.) made 10 saves on 19 shots for the Saints.
- Pilgrims sophomore goalkeeper Nate Finn (Norwood, Mass.) made eight saves in the loss.
- Norton led the game with six shots on goal as Mehlhorn, Bragg, Etzo, and Daley followed with five apiece.
