Women's Lacrosse Stopped at Emmanuel

BOSTON, Mass. – The New England College women's lacrosse team suffered a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) loss at Emmanuel College in Boston, Massachusetts. 

THE BASICS 
Score: New England College: 4, Emmanuel College: 16  
Records: Pilgrims: 6-10, 4-5 GNAC, Saints: 10-6, 9-1 GNAC 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Emmanuel scored the first three goals before junior attacker Meadow Gilchrist (Stamford, Conn.) snuck one past Saints goalie Isabella Thomas (Miami, Fla.) to cut into the early lead. Freshman attacker Lilly Vaughn (Belmont, N.H.) scored the second goal for the Pilgrims to bring Emmanuel's lead down to eight. Gilchrist and sophomore midfielder Carmela Goodwin (Lebanon, N.H.) added a goal apiece in the second half while the Saints outscored the Pilgrims 6-2 in that span. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • Junior goalkeeper Isabella Marzano (Warwick, R.I.) made ten saves in the loss. 

  • Gilchrist led the game with eight shots, while junior Madeline Wright (Mattapoisett, Mass.) finished with seven for Emmanuel. 

UP NEXT 

  • NEC concludes their season at home against Colby-Sawyer on Wednesday at 4:00 PM. 

  • The Saints finish their season at Norwich on Tuesday at 4:00 PM.
