Pellerin Homers in Baseball Loss to Albertus Magnus

HAMDEN, Conn. – The New England College baseball team fell to Albertus Magnus College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Wednesday in Hamden, Connecticut. 

THE BASICS 
Score: New England College: 3, Albertus Magnus College: 14 
Records: Pilgrims: 7-18, 4-6 GNAC | Falcons: 7-16, 2-9 GNAC 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Pilgrims started the scoring in the first inning as freshman catcher Jaken Pellerin (Manchester, N.H.) grounded out to shortstop to bring in graduate infielder Johnny Cannavo (Weymouth, Mass.) from third. 
  • The Falcons used a five-run bottom of the first to propel ahead 13-1 heading into the fifth.  
  • In the bottom of the fifth, graduate utilityman Bryce Worth (Southington, Conn.) singled to left field with one out. Pellerin hit a home run to bring the Pilgrims to three runs before the Falcons added one more. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • Worth had two hits and senior pitcher Liam Bruskewicz (Granite Springs, N.Y.) struck out two in three innings for the Pilgrims in the loss. 

UP NEXT 

  • NEC is back on the field on Friday when they visit Norwich for a doubleheader starting at 1:00 PM. 
  • Albertus Magnus plays their next game at Anna Maria in Worcester, Massachusetts at noon.
