FRANKLIN, Mass. – The New England College men's lacrosse team suffered a close loss at Dean College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday at Grant Field in Franklin, Massachusetts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Dean got off to a hot start with three consecutive goals. Dean senior attacker Diego Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, Mass.) led things off with two goals in twelve seconds just five minutes into the game before senior attacker Alec Speirs (Old Lyme, Conn.) scored a man-up goal three minutes later to extend the Bulldogs lead to three. Junior midfielder Daniel Varga (Hampton, N.J.) stopped the momentum as he tallied the Pilgrims' first goal. Alvarez-Segee and senior midfielder Aiden Anthony (Stoneham, Mass.) extended Dean's lead to four goals before junior midfielder Nathan Hawkins (Salisbury, N.H.) brought the deficit to three and senior attacker Henri Pfeifle (Darien, Conn.) scored to get it within two at the end of the first quarter.
- Alvarez-Segee scored just 41 seconds into the second quarter to double NEC's score for the Bulldogs. Sophomore attacker Duncan Fleming (St. Paul, Minn.) buried a goal off a pass from Varga to make it a two-goal game. sophomore attacker Manny Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, Mass.) finished the first half with three goals in five minutes with a Daley goal for the Pilgrims to bring a 9-5 lead into the locker room.
- The two teams started the second half with 2:28 of scoreless lacrosse before Daley scored to make it a three-goal game. D. Alvarez-Segee found the back of the net two minutes later for his fifth goal of the game. Junior attacker Joseph Marra (North Branford, Conn.) extended the Bulldogs lead to five before Pfeifle brought it back to four, just before D. Alvarez-Segee briught the lead back to five with his sixth goal of the afternoon.
- The Pilgrims started to inch back as sophomore midfielder Brody McGonigle (Concord, N.H.) scored off a pass from Varga. The two teams traded goals as Speirs scored two for the Bulldogs with Anthony notching a Dean goal between Speirs' two. For the Pilgrims, Hawkins buried two after Varga hit the back of the net.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Dean sophomore goalie Elijah Beland (Augusta, Maine) made 12 saves on 23 shots on goal from the Pilgrims
- NEC sophomore goalkeeper Logan Stroud (Belmont, N.H.) made seven saves on 22 shots on goal from the Bulldogs.
- With his four point day, Pfeifle surpassed the 100 career point milestone.
- The Pilgrims won the total shots matchup 45-36.
- D. Alvarez-Segee led the game with eight shots on goal while Daley led the Pilgrims with five. Speirs, Hawkins, and Pfeifle all finished with four shots on goal.
