Men's Lacrosse Suffers Loss to Clark

HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College men's lacrosse team lost against visiting Clark University in nonconference action on Tuesday at Don Melander Field in Henniker, New Hampshire. 

THE BASICS 

  • Score: New England College: 7, Clark University: 20 
  • Records: Pilgrims: 3-3, 0-1 GNAC | Cougars: 5-2, 0-1 NEWMAC 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Cougars scored just 15 seconds into the game as junior midfielder Brett Newman (Cheshire, Conn.) put Clark ahead early. The teams would trade goals until the Cougars went up 4-2 just five minutes in. Senior attacker Henri Pfeifle (Darien, Conn.) scored twice for the Pilgrims in the opening frame. He and senior attacker Matt Daley (Plymouth, Mass.) both finished with a hat trick in the loss. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • Clark graduate goalie Casey McCullough (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) allowed seven goals on 17 shots in the win. 
  • NEC sophomore goalkeeper Logan Stroud (Belmont, N.H.) made 16 saves in the loss. 
  • Clark led the game in shots on goal with 36 to the Pilgrims' 19. 
  • Clark's graduate attacker Matthew Minkwitz (Norfolk, Mass.) led the game with 11 shots on goal as senior attacker Matt Wells (Rutland, Mass.) followed behind with six. NEC junior midfielder Daniel Varga (Hampton, N.J.) led the Pilgrims with eight. 
UP NEXT 
  • NEC is back on the field on Saturday when they visit Rivier at 2:00 PM.. 
  • Clark plays their next game at 1:00 PM on Saturday when they host Salve Regina.
