TOWSON, Md. – The New England College men's lacrosse team fell to hosting Goucher College in non-conference action on Tuesday at Beldon Field in Towson, Maryland.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Gophers got off to a hot start with three consecutive goals from junior midfielder Gianni Karam (Ellicott City, Md.) to lead the Pilgrims in the first ten minutes. Senior attacker Henri Pfeifle (Darien, Conn.) scored before senior midfielder Tyler May (Columbia, Md.) buried one to bring a 4-1 lead into the second quarter. Karam found the back of the net for the lone goal of the second as Goucher brought a four-goal lead into the locker room at the half.
- Five minutes into the third quarter, Karam scored his fifth goal of the game before junior midfielder Nathan Hawkins (Salisbury, N.H.) scored the first of back-to-back-to-back goals from the Pilgrims. Pfeifle and senior attacker Matt Daley (Plymouth, Mass.) brought the deficit to two with four minutes to go in the third quarter.
- Graduate defender Sean Nolan (Las Vegas, Nev.) found the back of the net with two minutes left in the third as the Gophers went into the final fifteen minutes with a three-goal lead. Karam scored five minutes into the fourth to extend the Gophers' lead to four. Senior midfielder Milan Temple (Joppatowne, Md.) and Nolan added to the lead before Karam buried another one to put Goucher up seven. Freshman midfielder Jack Murdaugh (Middletown, Del.) and Karam kept the scoring going as they gave the Gophers additional insurance. Daley attempted to kickstart a comeback, along with a late goal from junior midfielder Daniel Varga (Hampton, N.J.), but the Gophers held on for the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Sophomore goalkeeper Logan Stroud (Belmont, N.H.) made eight saves on 51 shots faced.
- Goucher sophomore goalkeeper Jack Smith (Williamsburg, Va.) made nine saves on 31 shots faced.
- The Gophers led the Pilgrims 51-31 in the shots department
- Karam and Temple led the game 18 and 11 shots apiece as Varga led the Pilgrims with 10.
