Castleton, V.T. – The New England College Women's Ice Hockey Team fell to VTSU – Castleton overtime on Saturday afternoon.
The Spartans attacked quickly on net with sophomore Kayden Lallier Whissell (Stevensville, Ont.) making 10 saves in the first seven minutes. Castleton was able to take the lead first late in the first period scored by Taylor Adams.
NEC came out fast in the second with a goal at 58 seconds into the period by senior Meadow Gilchrist (Stamford, Conn.). Who led the team with a total of seven shots. The two teams continued to go back and forth for the remainder of the second and third periods, leading the two teams into overtime.
In overtime, NEC busted out with four shots led by freshman Audrey Routledge (Okotoks, Alta.), but just over a minute into extra time Castleton was able to score the winning goal.
The 'Grims are back at the Lee Clement Arena on Friday, November 14th against Keene State College at 4:00 PM.
Admissions will be accepting up to two non-perishable food items per person for free admission for the Henniker Food Shelf.
