Men’s Hoops Wins Fourth Straight at Norwich, 85-73

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The New England College men's basketball team made the trip up north to Northfield, Vermont for a non-conference matchup against Norwich, and return home as winners of four straight as they knocked off the Cadets, 85-73, on Tuesday evening.

It was a hot start for the Pilgrims as they shot 56 percent from the field in the first half, including 46 percent from distance, as they took a 40-34 lead into the halftime break. Junior Mike Strazzeri (Chichester, N.H.) had 10 first-half points on 2-of-5 shooting from deep. Sophomore Ryan Cuvier (Tewksbury, Mass.) and senior Kenray Emadamerho (Manchester, N.H.) each had seven points while connecting on three-pointers.

In the second half, the NEC shooting was even better; The team shot north of 71 percent from the floor after halftime on an efficient 5-of-8 shooting from deep. Sophomore Josh Robie (Bethlehem, N.H.) had just five points in the first half, but the sharp-shooting guard would not be contained in the second half, finishing with a team-high 22 points on 5-of-9 shooting from beyond-the-arc.

The 'Grims lead never fell below seven points in the second half despite a game-high 28 points from Michel Ndayishimiye for the Cadets. The NEC defense held Norwich to shooting just 36 percent in the second half and the hosts connected on just 7-of-31 from three-point range in the game.

Strazzeri ended the game with 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Cuvier secured his first career double-double with 15 points on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting with 11 rebounds. Junior Aiden MacLeod (Wilmington, Mass.) filled the stat sheet with 11 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.

NEC will take their four-game winning streak into their next non-conference game, a home matchup against the University of New England on Saturday, November 22nd, at 1:00 PM.
