HAMDEN, Conn. - The New England College men's golf team closed out their regular season schedule with a first-place finish at New Haven Country Club in a test run of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships that will take place early next week.  

NEC took down both Norwich and Albertus Magnus in the Wednesday afternoon tri-match with a team score of 325. Norwich settled for second today with a team score of 334, while Albertus came in third at 345. The three teams were voted as the top three teams in Monday's GNAC Pre-Championship Poll with NEC narrowly edging out Albertus (2nd) and Norwich (3rd).  

Finishing tied for second overall, senior Graham Hassan (Pinckney, Mich.) continued his stellar play to lead the team with a 78 (+8). Finishing just behind him was sophomore Vesse-Wincent Lampen (Espoo, Finland) who submitted a 79 (+9) which was good for tied for fourth individually. 

Sophomore Dalton Gordon (Boscawen, N.H.) had another strong day at the course, posting an 82 (+12) while finishing in sixth place. NEC freshman Emil Elias (Ekerö, Sweden) rounded out the team's scoring with an 84 (+14) which was tied for seventh while sophomore Bryce Sturm (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) finished tied for ninth with an 86 (+16). 

NEC will carry some momentum into Day 1 of the GNAC Championships which begins at 12:00 PM on Monday, October 13th at the very same New Haven Country Club.
