SALEM, Mass. – The New England College women's ice hockey team dropped an overtime matchup at Salem State University on Friday night in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Vikings got on the board early as Mikayla Talbot hit the net just 47 seconds into the contest to give Salem State a 1-0 lead. Nine minutes later, Brooke Dineen took a pass from Ta Miles to bury a shot to give the Vikings a two-goal advantage. Aislinn Bennett scored halfway through the second period to give Salem State a 3-0 lead.
- With just 1:26 left in the second period, junior forward Olivia Lindberg (Stockholm, Sweden) found the back of the net off a pass from junior forward Meadow Gilchrist (Stamford, Conn.) to get the Pilgrims on the board. Lindberg scored again 7:38 into the final frame to bring NEC within one with Gilchrist and junior forward Kate Devlin (Walpole, Mass.) on the assists. With just seven seconds to go in the game, this time it was Gilchrist who scored to tie the game off a pass from Lindberg to send the game into overtime.
- After giving up the previous three goals, the Vikings finally got back into the scoring column as Isabella Gillis scored to give Salem State the win off assists from Ginger Osgood and Bennett
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Freshman goaltender Kayden Lallier-Whissell (Stevensville, Ontario) made 41 saves on 45 shot attempts from the Vikings.
- Delaney Cox made 22 saves on 25 attempts by the Pilgrims.
- Shots on goal were 45-25 in favor of the Vikings.
