SUTTON, N.H. - The New England College men's golf team opened their 2024 season and their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) title defense by hosting the NEC Invitational on Sunday at the Country Club of New Hampshire in Sutton, coming in first place among five teams from Castleton, Keene State, Elms College and Norwich University.  
 
TOP 'GRIMS

• NEC senior Timothy Carlson (Albany, N.Y.) medaled for the Pilgrims, taking first place in a field of 29 golfers. The senior posted a six-over for a 78 on the day.
• NEC junior Graham Hassan (Pinckney, Mich.) finished just one stroke behind Carlson for second place, finishing with a 79.
• NEC senior Ryan Waring (Gilmanton, N.H.) finished with an 82, good for seventh place.
• NEC sophomore Vesse-Wincent Lampen (Espoo, Finland) was tied for tenth place with an 86.
• NEC freshman Bryce Sturm (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) posted a 15-over for an 87, tied for eleventh place.
• NEC sophomore Jack Herron (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) led the Pilgrim Blue team, posting an 89. Freshman Dalton Gordon (Boscawen, N.H.) had a 93 while sophomore Paul Waldhauser (Klagenfurt, Austria) tallied a 96. Senior David Novotny (Boca Raton, Fla.) contributed a 99.

 
UP NEXT

• NEC will compete next on Wednesday when they travel to the Country Club of Barre in Orange, Vermont for the Tony Mariano Invitational  hosted by Norwich University. Tee time is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
