Records: Saints: 4-4-1, 3-2-1 GNAC | Pilgrims: 3-3-3, 2-2-2 GNAC
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emmanuel College dominated the time of possession early in the first half and it ultimately resulted in a goal from Pierre-Paul Labossiere (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) who got in close and put the Saints up 1-0.
- The Pilgrims had a couple of strong scoring chances in the first half from sophomore midfielder Santiago Sanchez (Guatemala City, Guatemala) and sophomore forward Chase Gurtowsky (Torrington, Conn.), but Emmanuel kept NEC off the scoreboard with some strong defensive plays.
- The score would remain 1-0 until deep into the second half, but the 'Grims would see their best scoring opportunities of the game in the 76th minute. Off an NEC corner, Sanchez collected the ball and sent a strike towards the Saints net, but it was blocked by an Emmanuel defender. The loose ball was picked up by sophomore outside back Erik Corbin (Marlboro, Mass.) who sent the ball towards the weak side of the net and found the head of a leaping junior forward Noel Huliselan (Jakarta, Indonesia) for the equalizing goal.
- The tied game lasted for about 10 minutes before the Saints struck again, this time Joe Anderson (Tampa, Fla.) connected with Jacob Beck (Dallas, Ga.) who had snuck behind the defense and weaved a shot past Walker for the game-winner. The visitors would hold on for the final four-plus minutes to escape with the 2-1 win.
