HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a hard-fought first 25 minutes of the game, the stalemate was finally broken in the 26th minute when NEC senior midfielder Darren Mota (Inverness, Scotland) launched a free kick from the left side and it found the head of sophomore forward Chase Gurtowsky (Torrington, Conn.) who finished for his first career goal, giving the 'Grims a 1-0 lead. Then in the 50th minute of the game, NEC sophomore midfielder Santiago Sanchez (Guatemala City, Guatemala), who came into the game with two goals on the week already, took a short pass from junior midfielder Anthony Aguiar (Guilford, N.H.) on the far-left side and bent a beautiful shot that just missed the keeper, giving the Pilgrims all the insurance they needed.
