THE BASICS
Score:                  Lesley 0, New England College 2
Records:              Lynx 1-5-0, 0-0-0 NAC | Pilgrims 2-2-1, 1-1-0 GNAC
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a hard-fought first 25 minutes of the game, the stalemate was finally broken in the 26th minute when NEC senior midfielder Darren Mota (Inverness, Scotland) launched a free kick from the left side and it found the head of sophomore forward Chase Gurtowsky (Torrington, Conn.) who finished for his first career goal, giving the 'Grims a 1-0 lead. Then in the 50th minute of the game, NEC sophomore midfielder Santiago Sanchez (Guatemala City, Guatemala), who came into the game with two goals on the week already, took a short pass from junior midfielder Anthony Aguiar (Guilford, N.H.) on the far-left side and bent a beautiful shot that just missed the keeper, giving the Pilgrims all the insurance they needed.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • NEC senior goalkeeper Hayden Walker (Manchester, N.H.) picked up his first win of the season, tallying four saves for the shutout victory.
  • Lesley goalkeepers Aiden Hendricks (Richmond, Va.) and Josiah Williams (Durham, N.C.) split time in net for the Lynx, each recording three saves.
  • Shots of goal were 8-4 in favor of the 'Grims.
UP NEXT
  • NEC is back on the field on Tuesday when they travel to Rivier University for a 7:00 p.m. conference matchup.
  • Lesley plays their next game on Saturday at home against the University of Maine – Presque Isle, starting at 12:00 p.m.
