Men’s Golf Edged at Norwich; Carlson Medals Again

ORANGE, Vt. – The New England College men's golf team competed at the Tony Mariano Invitational hosted by Norwich University on Wednesday afternoon at the Country Club of Barre in Orange, Vermont, as the Pilgrims were edged by the Scots of Gordon College by one stroke – 310 to 309 – for the championship, coming in second out of eight teams.

TOP 'GRIMS

NEC senior Timothy Carlson (Albany, N.Y.), coming off a first-place finish at the NEC Invitational on Sunday and a selection as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week, medaled on Wednesday, matching par with a 71, a two-stroke lead over the second-place player.
NEC junior Graham Hassan (Pinckney, Mich.) posted a 76 for +5 over par, good for second place amongst the Pilgrims.
NEC freshman Bryce Sturm (Lake in the Hills, Ill.), fresh off being named the GNAC Rookie of the Week in just his first week of collegiate competition, was third with an 81 for ten over-par.
NEC sophomore Vesse-Wincent Lampen (Espoo, Finland) posted a +11 while senior Ryan Waring (Gilmanton, N.H.) had a +12.

UP NEXT

NEC will compete next Wednesday when they travel to Brookline Golf Course in Brookline, Massachusetts for the Emmanuel College Invitational.
