Emily Gagne (Portsmouth, N.H.) of the New England College softball team has been voted to the 2024 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region Team in an announcement by the association late last week.
Gagne led the Pilgrims this season with a .384 batting average while terrifying other teams on the base-paths, stealing 44 bases to lead the GNAC and shatter the previous NEC single-season record of 26, a record Gagne herself tied in 2023. She became the 21
st 'Grim of the modern era to reach the 100 career-hit plateau, finishing with 137 hits for ninth all-time. Gagne further set the career stolen-base record with 110, and her .948 career stolen-base average likewise ranks first all-time. Her 17 walks drawn in 2024 ranks fourth in NEC history. She was named the Pilgrim of the Month for March 2024 after a blistering start to her season.
At press time, Gagne ranked in the top ten in the nation in stolen bases while ranking seventh in stolen bases per game at 1.13.
The 2024 season saw the Pilgrims reach the double-elimination round of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship Tournament in just their first year in the league, eliminating rivals Rivier University and Mitchell College before falling just short to Johnson & Wales University in extra innings.
