HENNIKER, N.H. – Two days after pitching her team to a playoff berth-clinching doubleheader sweep, New England College junior pitcher Olivia Olson (North Haven, Conn.) of the NEC softball team has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 28^th in an announcement by the conference on Monday.

Olson posted the best week of her career this past week, going 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA over 19 1/3 innings. First against the Owls of Keene State on Wednesday, the third-year hurler struck out three with no earned runs in an eventual 6-2 victory Pilgrims victory. Then at Anna Maria on Saturday, with their goal of reaching the GNAC playoffs on the line, Olson led the 'Grims to a sweep in their double-header, going 2-0 and allowing just nine hits and no earned runs over 12 1/3 innings.

"Olivia was a true ace as she pitched this team into the playoffs." NEC head coach Ben Master said of his ace pitcher. "A credit to the pitching staff in general for helping us win three out of four this weekend. I'm very proud Olivia got this much deserved recognition as she has pitched spectacularly the entire season!"

At press time, Olson was leading the GNAC with 11 wins while ranking third in ERA with a 2.29.

Behind her stellar performance, the 'Grims are headed into the GNAC playoffs in their first season in the league.
