HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's lacrosse team lost 13-9 to visiting UMass Boston in non-conference action on Thursday evening at Don Melander Field in Henniker, New Hampshire.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Down 11-5 with less than six minutes to go in the third quarter, the Pilgrims rallied behind NEC graduate midfielder Cassie Kelly (Alexandria, Minn.), scoring three straight goals including two by Kelly and entering the final quarter down by just three. But the Beacons clamped down on the defensive end and added a pair of insurance goals to put the game away.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC senior goalkeeper Carleigh Knotts (Dover, Del.) tallied 12 saves on the night for the Pilgrims.
- UMB freshman goalkeeper Laura Falandys (Leominster, Mass.) finished with nine saves for the Beacons.
- Kelly finished with a hat trick of three goals, six draw controls and four ground balls.
- The Beacons were led by sophomore midfielders Mia Boyd (Buffalo, N.Y.) and Jamie McAleavey (Quincy, Mass.) who each scored three goals.
- UMB sophomore attacker Teresa Sheedy (Quincy, Mass.) filled the stat line with two goals, two assists, three caused turnovers, three ground balls and two draw controls.
- NEC freshman midfielder Alexis Hornsby (Atkinson, N.H.) finished with a goal, two caused turnovers and three ground balls.
