MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The New England College baseball team suffered a pair of losses to Coast Guard on Monday at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, falling 10-3 in the early game before dropping the nightcap 11-1 on the penultimate day of the team's spring break trip.
GAME 1
Score: New England College 3, Coast Guard 10

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first two frames, Coast Guard broke through in the third inning with five runs on six hits to jump ahead. The Bears added one run in the fourth, two in the fifth, and two more in the sixth to go up 10-0.
- In the top of the seventh, with a Pilgrim on every base, senior catcher Lachlan Rees (Adelaide, Australia) smacked a double off the wall in right center field, driving in two runs. Two batters later, junior infielder Brady Philibotte (Weare, N.H.) hit an RBI groundout to score the team's third run of the game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Junior right-handed pitcher Austin Hazzard (Weare, N.H.) took the loss in game one, going five-and-one-third innings and striking out six. Sophomore Jackson Round (Cayuga, Canada) recorded the final two outs with one K.
- USCGA sophomore starter Harrison Milbert (Kingston, Mass.) struck out seven across six innings to earn the win.

Score: Coast Guard 11, New England College 1
Records: Bears 4-0 | Pilgrims 1-7
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the nightcap, the Bears picked up right where they left off with a seven spot in the first inning. They would add another run in the fourth and three more insurance runs in the top of the seventh.
- In the sixth, graduate infielder Bryce Worth (Southington, Conn.) led off the inning with a double down the right field line. Worth would advance to third on a groundout and come in to score on a sac fly by graduate infielder Cooper Ribaudo (Salem, N.H.) to prevent the shutout.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Coast Guard freshman pitcher Sean Harmon (Bethesda, Md.) threw five scoreless innings for the Bears, striking out ten while allowing six baserunners.
- Senior left-handed pitcher Nolan Stoney (Bedford, N.H.) shined in long relief, throwing six-and-two-thirds with seven strikeouts while allowing just one earned run.
- With at least one hit in both games, both senior infielders Johnny Cannavo (Weymouth, Mass.) and Brett Patnode (Weare, N.H.) would each extend their hitting streaks to eight games.
