HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College men's ice hockey team endured a 4-1 loss against the visiting Babson College Beavers on Friday at Lee Clement Arena in Henniker, New Hampshire in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- NEC came out firing on all cylinders in the early going finding the back of the net in the first 1:58 of the game as freshman forward Vesse-Wincent Lampen (Espoo, Finland) ripped a shot from the right side of the ice that was assisted by senior forward Wyatt Andres (Brainerd, Minn.) and senior forward Ike Taraszewski (Wayzata, Minn.). The 'Grims made their presence known defensively for the remainder of the period keeping it a 1-0 game in their favor.
- During the second period the Beavers managed to get a spark from their offense answering with a goal of their own. At 9:30 junior forward Danny Cavanagh (Warwick, R.I) shot the puck at the top right corner of the goal that was assisted by sophomore defender CJ Beals (Chelmsford, Mass.) and junior forward Sam Sibold (South Hero, Vt.). Later on, towards the end of the period NEC had their backs against the wall as they bestowed Babson with a power play opportunity that led to yet another goal scored by the Beavers coming from senior forward Wyatt George (Mount Lebanon, Pa.) assisted by sophomore forward Jimmy Fallon (Milton, Mass.) and junior forward Ryan Murphy (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.) at 18:12 extending their lead out to one goal, 2-1.
- The third period had the Beavers name written all over it as Babson kept their foot on the gas scoring the final two goals of the game to earn the win over the 'Grims on the night, 4-1.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC freshman goaltender Anthony Beaulieu (Lawrence, Mass.) did all he could for the 'Grims tonight collecting 40 saves.
- BC junior goaltender Nate Mueller (Roger, Minn.) gathered 20 saves.
- NEC Lampen scored his second goal of the season in the conference matchup.
- BC had four different goal scorers in Cavanagh, George, junior forward Tommy Rooney (Milton, Mass.), and junior forward Brendan Kennedy (Georgetown, Ont.)
- Shots were in favor of the Beavers, 46-21.
- BC had the advantage on faceoffs on the night as they collected 34 to NEC's 28.
