HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's ice hockey team suffered a 0-4 loss against visiting University of Southern Maine on Saturday at Lee Clement Arena in Henniker, New Hampshire in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Huskies got the scoring started late in the first period on a goal by the team's leading scorer, Ally Stymiest (Moncton, N.B.), with an assist from Shannon Murphy (Pembroke, Mass.), to go up 1-0 with 1:17 left in the opening period.
- Southern Maine would build on their lead with two second period goals. The first came with 15:51 left as Saige MacLeod (Dryden, Ont.) finished off a fast break with an unassisted score. The second came with 6:23 remaining when Jillian Jackson (Fredericton, N.B.) capitalized on a pass from Madelyn McLeish (Dedham, Mass.) to put the visitors ahead 3-0.
- USM would add one more goal late in the third period as Murphy found the back of the net for the 4-0 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC sophomore goaltender Lucy Armour (Falmouth, Mass.) made 39 saves in net.
- USM goalie Haley McKim (Moncton, N.B.) stopped 15 shots.
- Shots on goal were 43-15 in favor of the Huskies.
- NEC just edged USM in faceoffs, 26-24.
- Defenders Gina Sciortino (Billerica, Mass.) and Mae Lafferty (South Boston, Mass.) each led the way with three blocked shots for the Pilgrims.
UP NEXT
- NEC is back on the ice following a short hiatus for Thanksgiving break, returning to action on Friday, December 6th, when they travel to Keene State for a late 7:45 PM non-conference matchup.
- USM plays their next game at home on Tuesday against Colby College at 6:00 PM.
