HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Beacons got on the board first with 2:49 left in the first when UMB sophomore forward Jack Mortson (Detroit, Mich.) scored his team-leading third goal of the season on a short-handed shot as the hosts went up 1-0.
- UMass Boston made it 2-0 in the second with 5:41 to go when UMB senior forward Kolye Bankauskas (Coventry, R.I.) scored off an assist from junior forward Jazz Krivtsov (Santa Clarita, Calif.).
- The Pilgrims rallied in the third as NEC sophomore forward Dylan Duckson (Mahtomedi, Minn.) scored his first career goal to make it 2-1, assisted by sophomore forward Tyler Love (San Ramon, Calif.) and freshman forward Egor Osipik (Minsk, Belarus) at 4:08 into the third.
- Krivtsov scored an insurance goal with 12:35 left in the game, giving the Beacons the 3-1 lead. This was followed by an empty-net goal from freshman forward Michael Lynch (Stoneham, Mass.).
- A goal from NEC sophomore forward Gunnar Sibley (Monticello, Minn.) – his first of the year – with 57 seconds left was not enough to close the gap.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC freshman goaltender Anthony Beaulieu (Lawrence, Mass.) tallied 35 saves in net for the 'Grims.
- UMB senior goaltender Tyler Bost (Mahwah, N.J.) finished with 31 stops for the Beacons.
