PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The New England College field hockey team took the loss against Johnson & Wales University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday afternoon at Scott's Miracle Gro Athletic Complex. in Providence, Rhode Island.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- 5:20 into the first quarter, sophomore forward Adelaide Kelly (Rockport, Maine) put the 'Grims on the scoreboard first with her ninth goal of the season. She was assisted on the goal by junior forward Cristina Manzi (Peapack, N.J.) and graduate forward Drea Chin (Laconia, N.H.).
- The Wildcats had a response just three minutes later when Ava Pontes (Somerset, Mass.) netted an unassisted goal to knot the game up at 1-1 with 6:29 remaining in the first quarter. That score would remain unchanged through the halftime break.
- 2:52 into the second half, the tie score would be broken when Rayne Millett (Lynn, Mass.) snuck a shot past the keeper by the right post to put the Wildcats ahead. Johnson & Wales would hold the 'Grims scoreless for the remainder of the contest to win by a one-goal margin.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- JWU goalkeeper Sophia Brea (Windham, N.H.) made two saves for the Wildcats.
- NEC junior goalkeeper Makenzie Anderson (Antrim, N.H.) collected six saves in goal for the 'Grims.
- With her goal today, Kelly tied senior midfielder Meaghan McCamish (Warwick, R.I.) for the team lead with nine goals.
- Chin now has six assists on the season which is tied for the second most in the GNAC.
- Both teams were even with six penalty corners each. The Wildcats outshot the Pilgrims, 12-6.

- NEC is back on the field on Tuesday when they travel to Standish, Maine, for a GNAC matchup against the St. Joseph's College of Maine starting at 6:00 PM.
