HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pilgrims were awarded the first two penalty corners of the game in the 10th minute of the first quarter. NEC was able to convert and cash in on the second attempt, as senior midfielder Taylor Bailey (Boscawen, N.H.) found graduate forward Drea Chin (Laconia, N.H.) who drilled a heater through traffic and into the Regis goal for the first score of the game.
- NEC would double their lead 3:37 into the second quarter when junior forward Cristina Manzi (Peapack, N.J.) found sophomore forward Kylee Henriquez (Methuen, Mass.) on the weak side of the net, and Henriquez sent a one-timer past the goalie to make it a 2-0 game.
- The 'Grims would waste no time, threatening to score again less than a minute later. Senior midfielder Meaghan McCamish (Warwick, R.I.) took possession of the ball in the middle of the Regis defensive zone, and the senior drove to her left past a pair of defenders before sending a shot up and over the Regis keeper.
- With two minutes remaining in the first half, another penalty corner would result in the Bailey-Chin connection ending in a goal. This time Bailey received the ball on a pass back to the inserter before finding Chin in the middle of the half-circle. Chin again went high and rocketed a shot off the top crossbar and into the goal for her second of the day to take a 4-0 lead into halftime.
- Just 2:12 into the third quarter, Manzi, who is the reigning GNAC Player of the Week after her pair of game-winners against Rivier and Simmons, connected on her second assist of the night as she sent a pass in to McCamish who used a quick deflection to send a shot past the keeper for her second score.
- Later in the third, another NEC penalty corner would turn into a Pilgrims goal. Bailey inserted before a few passes went around the horn to freshman midfielder Kennedy Overhoff (Whitefield, N.H.). Overhoff slapped a hard ball towards the net and found the stick of junior defender Isabella Marzano (Warwick, R.I.) who used a slick deflection to deposit her first goal of the season.
- Regis would finally break through with just under 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter when Frankie Alley (Gardner, Mass.) spoiled the shutout with her team-leading seventh goal of the season. Alley would score again with 2:17 remaining, however the damage was already done as the Pilgrims would leave town with the 6-2 win.
