HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The majority of the first half during this outing was closely contested with neither side showing signs of wavering. Between the two teams only three shots were managed to be taken by the two respectively. The Chargers struck first with a 1:33 left that occurred by CSC advancing the ball into the offensive zone from the left side of the field that was at the feet of freshman midfielder Colin Riley-Perec (Plymouth, Mass.). Riley-Perec made a few touches to make an accurate pass over to junior midfielder Brandon Mejia (West Palm Beach, Fla.) who took a high arching shot that found its way into the back of the net to give CSC the lead going halftime, 1-0.
  • Little past the halfway point of the second half the Chargers continued their pursuit at scoring another goal for assurance. At 18:03 sophomore Kaden Lewis (Lunenburg, Mass.) took a shot that was sure to go in but was denied by senior goalkeeper Hayden Walker (Manchester, N.H.) keeping the 'Grims in the game.
  • NEC continued to keep fighting trying to claw their way back into the mix of things as junior midfielder Wyatt Flibbert (Windham, Maine) dribbles the ball towards the right side of the field to take a shot just inside the penalty box area that resulted in the ball to be kicked out.
  • A yellow card was assessed at 1:09 bestowing NEC with another opportunity at obtaining the equalizer. Once the goal kick was taken the ball launched into Chargers territory that eventually ended up with sophomore forward Chase Gurtowsky (Torrington, Conn.) that blasted a shot to end in a CSC goalkeeper save. From there on the 'Grims couldn't come up with an answer to conclude their evening with a 1-0 GNAC loss on the road.
