ELMIRA, N.Y. - The New England College women's volleyball team picked up their first two wins of the 2023 season on Saturday afternoon at the Elmira Opening Quad Tournament hosted by Elmira College, defeating the host Eagles in the first match of the day in four sets, 25-21, 16-25, 25-23, 25-15, before closing out the day with a four-set win over the Panthers of the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford, 25-20, 25-17, 20-25, 25-19.
The Pilgrims run their record to 2-1 on the season.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC senior outside hitter Renee McBride-Rogers (Midwest City, Okla.) was the top performer for the 'Grims, with 19 kills over eight sets with two total blocks.
- NEC junior outside hitter Savannah Pilialoha (Waipahu, Hawaii) dominated against Bradford, matching a career-high for a match with 16 kills on a .391 attack percentage to go along with three total blocks.
- Senior middle-blocker Tatiana Sampson (Kailua, Hawaii) had 13 kills on the day, including eight against the Eagles.
