Field Hockey Holds Bulldogs Scoreless on the Road

FRANKLIN, Mass. - The New England College field hockey team got a huge momentum win at Dean College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Sunday afternoon at the Grant Field in Franklin Massachusetts.

THE BASICS
Score: Dean College 0, New England College 2
Records: Pilgrims 3-3, 3-1 GNAC | Bulldogs 0-7, 0-3 GNAC

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In a low-scoring match, NEC graduate forward Drea Chin (Laconia, N.H.) made some huge plays as she struck in her second goal of the season at 10:27 into the first quarter of the game giving the 'Grims a 1-0 lead.
  • After a scoreless second quarter, NEC game out of halftime looking to put the game away as junior midfielder Meaghan McCamish (Warwick, R.I.) scored the game's second and final goal at the 40:01 mark, while Chin came in with the assist
  • From there on out, the 'Grims did not allow any shots from Dean, which created big defensive plays.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • NEC sophomore goalkeeper Makenzie Anderson (Antrim, N.H.) played all 60 minutes of game time but did not encounter a single shot from the Bulldog's offense.
  • Dean senior goalkeeper Mackenzie Fillion (New Bedford, Mass.) had her work cut out for her, as she faced 11 total shots and was able to save nine of them.
  • Despite having two goals in the game, NEC was able to muster up 21 shots against the Bulldogs as Dean was only able to get off one shot which was wide of the goal.
  • The 'Grims got deep into the trenches as they were able to come up with a 7-2 advantage on penalty corners.
