WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The New England College women's volleyball team traveled to the University of Saint Joseph and swept the Blue Jays in three sets in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday afternoon at the James A. Calhoun Gymnasium in West Hartford, Connecticut.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- NEC got off to a quick start, taking complete control of the first set – going on to win the set 25-13.
- In the second set, it was the Blue Jays that jumped out to an early lead, going up by as many as seven points. Down 9-16, the 'Grims would go on a 16-to-7-point run to claim the set.
- The third set was back-and-forth early before NEC got ahold of the lead and never gave it up. Up 24-20, a kill by sophomore outside hitter Lily-Anne Heywood (Derry, N.H.) would secure the program's first win in the GNAC.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Junior outside hitter Savannah Pilialoha (Waipahu, Hawaii) led the 'Grims with 12 kills, while Heywood added eight kills, nine digs, and three service aces.
- NEC did a great job at setting each other up at the net, with sophomore setter Aurora Gutierrez-Macias (El Paso, Tex.) pacing the team with 17 assists while freshman setter Alexandra Seijas (Fort Myers, Fla.) garnered 13 assists.
- sophomore defensive specialist Krissy Cardello (Peabody, Mass.) set a career-high with 21 digs, as she was the only player on either team to even reach double digits.
- NEC, as a team, totaled 40 kills compared to USJ's 27.
UP NEXT
- NEC is back on the field on Tuesday when they travel to North Adams, Massachusetts for a nonconference match against the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) at 6:00 PM.
- USJ plays their next game on Tuesday at 6:00 PM against Norwich University.
